5x5. Seth Apter's collaborative art project.

If you are the least bit drawn to the creative world you really must follow Seth Apter's blog: The Altered Page.

5x5 is his latest project. Here is what he has to say about it:
"I may be the author of The Pulse of Mixed Media but the true, creative force behind my book is the group of artists who generously shared their secrets and passions and, of course, their art. It was important to me that this book be representative of our entire artistic community, but the total number of contributors I could include was limited by the number of pages in the book. Not wanting to be contained by page numbers, I decided that the Internet was the perfect vehicle to extend the book and be able to include more of the community. With this in mind, the 5x5 Pulse Project was born."

I was lucky enough to be included in The Pulse of Mixed Media. My artwork is about my sweet Grandson.

Now I have been included in the 5x5 Project, along with some amazing artists including a personal friend - Debbie Guthrie :)

Debbie also has one of her pieces in the 5x5 project which is being featured in a ten-page spread in the November/December 2012 issue of Somerset Studio, now available in stores and online. Way to go, Debbie!

There are so many wonderful artists and pieces of art in the 5x5 Project. At the time of writing this post, there are already 6 Chapters to explore at The Altered Page. It's Still Life.

Before Seth Apter's "The Pulse of Mixed Media" book, there were 5 editions of The Pulse online. Or 4 1/2 to be exact. At the time of the book's release, Seth placed the presentation of the latest edition of The Pulse, which included survey responses from over 125 artists, on hold. And now it's here!

Follow "It's Still Life" every Sunday beginning today, June 3rd, over at The Altered Page.

Today, you can see my response to: “Photograph a still life that you create using an array of objects"  Here's a clue of what awaits you...

“If I were asked to say what is at once the most important production of Art and the thing most to be longed for; I should answer; A beautiful House; and if I were further asked to name the production next in importance and the thing next to be longed for; I should answer; A beautiful Book. To enjoy good houses and good books in self-respect and decent comfort, seems to me to be the pleasurable end towards which all societies of human beings ought now to struggle.” William Morris

Have a beautiful day!

Indulge Your Inner Voyeur.

Seth Apter's book, The Pulse of Mixed Media: Secrets and Passions of 100 Artists Revealed, arrived at the Post Office today. YAY!!!

I've been carrying it around, room to room, as I make meals, organize the studio and prepare for teaching this Saturday and Sunday's Creating Muse Journals workshop. I plan to read this wonderful book, cover to cover, by the end of the weekend. Then I promise to write a review, Seth!

I just love the whole idea behind this book! Click on the back cover to find out why.

I was so excited when I found out that my piece, "The Invisible Labyrinth", would be included in Section Three – Secrets Revealed.

I am honoured to be in such amazing company – with artists I have admired for years and new ones I am now discovering.

Congratulations, Seth!!! You have created something beautiful and meaningful, that will serve as inspiration for so many people. Once again I say, "YAY!!!"

Check out Seth's Blog, The Altered Page, to read about each of the book's 31 featured artists during the month of March. In fact, follow his blog - you will learn so much and have the chance to participate in many creative happenings!

It's a... book!

The cover of Seth's new book, coming out early in 2012
Seth Apter just emailed all his artist contributors to congratulate us on having some of our written responses to his evocative questions officially included in his first book, "The Pulse of Mixed Media". I am so excited about this! I can't wait to hold a copy in my hands...

Understandably, Seth is even more excited than I am. See the proud "father's" latest blog post here :) More news will be revealed over time about my involvement in this fantastic project.

Congratulations, Seth!
