Pasticcio Quartz. Wow!

The most recent issue of Pasticcio Quartz - the Winter issue.

I recently submitted artwork to Pasticcio Quartz, after reading a shared post by Seth Apter about the opportunity: "As much as we TOTALLY adore all of our regular contributors to the Palais section of Pasticcio, for our summer issue, we would love to introduce our readers to art and artists we have never shown before. If you have always wanted to be part of Pasticcio, now's your chance!"

I found out earlier this week that one of my paintings will be included in the Summer issue. How exciting! Angela Cartwright and Sarah Fishburn produce this luscious Art Zine twice a year. These women are power-houses in the art world. I have and love two of their books: In This Garden: Exploration in Mixed-Media Visual Narrative and In This House: A Collection of Altered Art Imagery and Collage Techniques.

You can find Pasticcio Quartz on Facebook. Of course, Angela and Sarah are on Facebook too :)

Of Towers, Flags and Banners (or ribbons)

On these frosty days I can be found in my studio wearing two sweaters, fingerless gloves, a scarf (for the fan that blows cold air down my neck) and, sometimes, a hat. It's not that there is no heater, or that my studio is down the back of the property. It is, rather, an energy saving measure... wearing more layers instead of turning up the pellet stove. As the day progresses, I start to discard extra bits of clothing, ending up in more suitable attire for drawing and moving paint around on canvases.

I have managed to create a new piece over the weekend. It is not entirely finished, but I am pleased with it and glad to be coming up with new ideas. I am ploughing my way through "Chaos and Calm", another FABULOUS online class from Julie Prichard and Chris Cozen. I want to finish this class before the next one comes along!
