 I started with two photos taken with my iPhone. I have replaced the original iPhone camera app with ProCamera for everyday use.

 

Open first image in Pic Grunger
(image was flipped first)

Open second image in iDarkroom
Cross Process
Instant frame
Save

Open both images in DXP
Combine images: Softlight
Save

Open new image and rainbow image in DXP
Combine images: Screen
Save

Open new image in Rainy Daze

Open new image in IRIS
FX - 3 Strip Technicolor

Save

Another world. Again.

It's quite busy here in the studio! I'm getting ready for the Merrickville Artists' Guild Studio Tour and re-vamping my website for a wonderfully visual experience. Stay tuned for more on both of these events.

Start with two photos that you have taken with your iPhone. I have replaced the original iPhone camera app with ProCamera for everyday use.

Open both photos in Blender. 
blend 50%

Open new image in 100 Cameras in 1.

Apply filter:

"looking sideways, a clever smile"

(I love the names of these filters!)

Save.

Open new image in Pic Grunger.

(have fun looking around the iPhoneography blog too!)

Apply filter:

"scuffed"

strength - adjust to taste

style - after hours

texture - water stained

Save.

My World.

Open new image in Snapseed.

Apply filters:

"tune image"

ambiance - +100

white balance - +100

"details"

structure - +100

"frames"

random - pick one you like

Save.

And there you have it. I was intrigued to find that the resulting image reminded me of my painting, "Something Rich and Strange I". Completely unintentional. HCIT???

Something Richer and Stranger.

I find that iPhoneography is a quick way to satisfy my creative muse when I don't have time to paint. Colour, texture, line, imagery - it's the next best thing... and it gives me ideas for new paintings. Head on over to my Facebook Page to find many more images - LIKE the page too if you want. :)

RECIPE

Start with an original piece of art that you have created. In this case, I used my newest painting, "Something Rich and Strange I". iPhoneography is a great way for an artist to find new inspiration by altering and exploring their own work. Try it!

Something Rich and Strange I.

Shoot sections of your work with your iPhone using ProCamera. I have replaced the original iPhone camera app with this one for everyday use.

Chosen section.

Result from iDarkroom.

Open one of your successful shots in iDarkroom.

Apply these filters:

"Hi Sepia"

"Recycle"

"Sketch"

Vignett 1"

"Sprockets"

Save.

My favourite image from SCRATCHcam.

Re-open image in SCRATCHcam.

Hit "Random" until you find

an image that you like.

Save.

I always save many!

Pick your favourite.

Doodling & Altering

One thing leads to another.

As you learned in my last post, I have become intrigued (if not obsessed) with Zentangles!

Some of my best ideas come to me at night, when I can't sleep. Since I acquired an iPhone, I have been using this "extra" time to pursue the creative ideas that are constantly whirling around in my head. I have been experimenting with iPhoneography - another passion - and I thought, "What would happen if I combined altered images of my art with my Zentangles?

An "Arabesque" is born.

Well, this is what happened. I created this image exclusively on the iPhone, using apps I have collected for iPhoneography. I have named it an "Arabesque", which I believe captures its elegant movement and "other-worldly" quality.

I am so excited to have discovered this new realm of creative possibilities. There really are no limits to the imagination!

From Counterpane to Hourglass

On the third Wednesday of every month, David Hayes over at Clearer Reflections will be hosting "Dave's Recipe Book Project" - an online collaboration. This is the second in the series.

The pic can be of any subject and any app(s) can be used… the only stipulation is that the image must be done all "in-phone" (or iPad). Along with the image, a specific step-by-step "recipe" is to be included.

Dave will post a list of all participating iphoneographers on his blog today so that you can be sure to find the links to all the "recipes". Check it out and join in if you like!

Altered Image, complete with recipe

Dave, over at Clearer Reflections, is hosting the first chapter of "Dave's Apps Recipe Book Project", an online collaboration. He will be posting links to all the participants and there will be lots to discover. Be sure to check it out tomorrow!

Participants are to post a pic created using a iPhone/iPad/Android-based phone camera and apps. Pics can be of any subject and any app(s) can be used... the only stipulation is that the image must be done all "in-phone".  Along with the image, participants are to reveal how they created it, with the specific "recipe".

Here is my contribution - a day early - as I will be attending the opening of our joint art exhibition "Impression | Expression" this evening and won't be back to blog in time.

I used two images, taken with my iPhone 4 and altered with Apps to create what I call my Altered Image:

My Recipe...

STEP ONE
Open Image#1 in Photo fx
Choose SpecialFX > Color Looks > Cool Desaturated (Amount 100%)
Save

STEP TWO
Open new Saved image in Iris
Choose Adjustments > Layers > Set Layer as Base
Open Library > select Image#2
Choose Adjustments > Layers > Blend with Base > Blend Mode: Lighten, (Opacity 100%), Use the Image Mask
Save

STEP THREE
Turn image right way up in Camera Roll (Edit) > Save

STEP FOUR
Open new Saved image in picfx
Choose Grunge > Rough Grunge
Save

STEP FIVE
Open new Saved image in 100Camerasin1
Choose "looking sideways, a clever smile" (50%)
Save

STEP SIX
Open new Saved image in Iris
Choose Dust 'n' Scratches > Grunge Frame > Rust (100%) > Apply
Save

VOILA!!!
